Hello everybody,

I'm from Italy. I decided to apply for a VISA about two years ago, entrusting an immigration agency from Brisbane with the red tape.

They assured me that if all goes as immigration planned with the new occupation list, I can apply as an independent skilled migrant but actually I'm still waiting since August 2008.

At the very beginning I thought of Melbourne but now I wonder if other cities might be better…

I mean, considering that I would support my family at least during the first year (I have an Electronic Engineering degree and my English is not so bad but my wife doesn't speak English at all) I'm looking for a city that could offer good balance between job opportunities and cost of living.

Any idea?

I've been advised against Perth… What's your opinion? A friend of mine in Melbourne told me it's really a lonely and isolated place!
