G'day, I will be retiring from the Canadian Federal Government after 35 years of service.  My partner is an Australian Citizen that has immigrated to Canada for 6 years now.  I want to know – What to do with my pension.  Do I leave it in Canada or do I have it transfed to Australia?  This is a real puzzel to me. 

If this is not the right area to ask this question, can you please point me in the right direction.  Thanking you in advance for the attention you will give my request.

Hi there,

I'm not expert in this area but, what I would do is if I could leave my retirement in UK apply this money to get some interest, more than in Australia, I would live in UK.

The only think is you need to be sure that you have full access to it and in case of some problem you can transfer part of whole money to Australia, if you open an HSBC account in UK you can open one here and transfer your money.


If you have no reason to leave your money in UK, would be easier to bring it here, just remember, you are not allower to travel over AU$10.000, you will need to open an account here and transfer your money.
