I was hoping if someone could advise me. We applied for the Australian Spousal visa for my husband last year on July 17th 2009 in United Arab Emirates. We later moved to Lebanon 6 months later in October. We have provided them with ALL information, and I was informed from my husband's assurer of support that the visa has been approved from Australia 3 months ago.

On January we were asked to repeat 3 forms, one including form 80(Character check) which we did. I repeatedly asked the case officer if she is beginning to process these forms that we handed in again. She said no. But I somehow do not believe her, because I read that this form takes 6 months to process, and it has been MUCH longer as we handed them in Dubai before we left in October.

I spoke to the Australian Embassy a few days ago regarding a Tourist Visa and I was told that yes, my hubby can go to Australia on a Tourist visa, and if the Spousal visa is accepted while we're in Australia, we can pick it up from (for eg) from an Australian Embassy in New Zealand. So we're going to apply. Does anyone know how much funds one should have for the Tourist visa to be accepted? (Note: In the application I will be stating that a Family member will be supporting us with accommodation). Has anyone here travelled on a tourist visa while your spouse visa was being processed? If so, on what basis.

Can someone please help me out with this issue? What rights do I have regarding this issue? Who can I contact besides my case officer? We are very frustrated. We have been waiting over a year now!

Hi everyone!
I need a quick advice. I am on GSM PR Bridging visa and if I have been offered a job in New Zealand. What are the options do I have? Can I take Bridging B visa and come back to Australia after every 3 months for renewal with the substantial reason: I need this work experience as part of professional development? I really need this job because even to find a good job in Australia, I need this experience. 

As far as NZ visa goes, I am thinking of applying temporary work visa. 

Good suggestions will be highly appreciated!

We are as you can imagine very very put back by this as well as the costs involved and dont know what is best for us!. I am 31 years old and my partner is 29 so we are now ready to start a new life and with this visa class we will be restricted to working in a certain area for 12 mths to reside in an area of australia for 2 years before even looking to aply for a PR, so we wouldnt be able to set our 'roots' as such. The agent also advised that they will assist in looking for a job but cannot guarentee, we just feel its a lot of money with no guarentee, can you please help or provide some advise so we can try and move forward with this? Do you know anyone that has been in the same situation as us, and if so how did they get on?

I am from Texas and upon my recent return from my first holiday in Australia, I was laid off from my job. While in Oz, several young travelers I was with refered to the working traveler visa that US citizens could get for 1-2 years. I am interested in this and now have the freedom to do the travel, however, I also have worked in international events management and I figured this is a skill that would benefit Australian companies just as it did US companies. If I came to OZ on the temporary work-travel visa and got on with a great organisation there, could that company then sponsor me with a full time working visa or would I have to come back to the States first for a time? I just want to set my expectations accurately before I decide on my next move. I am not expecting to return to Oz until July, 2010 at the earliest. I have recently become engaged to an Australian girl

We me online last year around September/October time and soon got too talking on the phone and online every day

She then visited me in the UK on the 26th Dec and stayed for 3 weeks and I travelled back with her to Australia and we have been together every day since then. We got engaged at the start of Feb

I am applying for the prosepective spouse visa when I return to the UK this week. The question I have though is regarding my fiancees employment status.

She has been in full time employment for the past 4 years, however, she just started a degree course at uni last week and will only be working part time.

Will we need to get someone else to act as an assurer for me? Does it have to be a family member?

I am a fully qualified Civil Engineering Technician and as such will be able to find work quite easily. Will they take this into consideration? In this line of employment I will easily be able to support my fiancee and me
