Australia Immigration to South Australia at record levels.
The Australian Bureau of Statistics (ABS) have just released figures that shows the level of Migration to South Australia is at a record high.
During the last twelve months to April 2007, South Australia received a net gain from overseas migration of 12,600 people, and the first quarter of 2007 was the largest quarterly gain by the State within the last twenty five years.
The ABS recorded that every quarter from 1986 has had a net increase in overseas migration (the exception being June 1993 and June 1994). The ABS figures show that immigration to Australia has never been more popular and that South Australia’s efforts to actively recruit overseas talent is paying off and has made a significant contribution to South Australia’s residential population. “I think the state is doing an excellent job,” said Michael Hickinbotham, Australian Population Institute chairman.
Recent figures from the Australian Bureau of Statistics (ABS) show that migration is increasing to South Australia, and that they are on track for their target population of 2 million people by 2050.
“It’s a great example of a state government being proactive in the effort to grow the population in a responsible and sustainable way and it’s supported by the federal government with the regional visa program,” he added.
The first quarter of 2007 saw a total of 57,000 people migrate to Australia, which is the largest increase in Australia Immigration since the first quarter of 2001.
